MVGSC Rescue Salute!!!!!

The Miami Valley Gordon Setter Rescue program has had much success over the years placing unwanted Gordons in pet homes throughout the Midwest. As a way of saying thank you, we thought it appropriate to feature from time to time some of our rescue success stories. This month we salute Emily Read.

In 1980 the local group of Gordon owners in Ohio (Betsy Huber, Nina Tenaglia, Leslie Simon, Jim Thacker and more) pulled a Gordon Setter out of a pound in eastern Ohio. The cooperation in this early rescue lead directly to the formation of Miami Valley Gordon Setter Club. After running a story in the GSCA news, Betsy screened several applicants to adopt Jason (Whetstone Jason of Gel-B). The winner was a young veterinary student at Kansas State, Emily Read. A picture of Jason is featured below, along with Spider Read.

Emily, a practicing veterinarian, has adopted several Gordons over the years, and was recently featured in a wonderful article in The Sentinel. Click on the link provided to read more about this veterinarian with a big heart.
